5/6 Boys Soccer
Elementary Sports

At CCA, elementary sports are where young students discover the joy of teamwork, develop fundamental skills, and build character in a Christ-centered environment.

We Offer
  • Soccer (Grades K-6): Co-ed recreational teams organized by grade level
  • Basketball (Elementary): Fundamentals, fun, and sportsmanship
  • Baseball (Elementary): Introduction to America's pastime

Our Approach

We focus on fundamentals first—teaching proper technique and game basics before advancing to strategy. Every child plays, every child is valued, and every child grows in confidence and ability. Our coaches emphasize character development alongside athletic skills, creating an environment where students thrive both on and off the field.

Elementary Head Coach

Cynthia Funk

Elementary Sports Head Coach

Coach Cynthia Funk has helped lead and develop young athletes through elementary soccer for the past six years, working primarily with 5th and 6th grade recreational teams. Having seen firsthand how powerful sports can be in shaping confidence, teamwork, and character at a young age, she brings both experience and genuine heart to every practice and game.

Under her guidance, the team has enjoyed nearly two undefeated seasons — a reflection not just of skill development, but of commitment, encouragement, and learning how to work together. Her coaching style focuses on building fundamentals, fostering a love for the game, and making sure every child feels valued and supported on the field — while also identifying and developing each player's individual strengths.

Above all, Coach Funk aims to reflect her faith in both her words and actions, consistently emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship on and off the field. She believes soccer is an opportunity to teach life lessons — respect, perseverance, humility, and kindness — while honoring God through our actions and attitudes. Winning is exciting, but developing character, showing respect to teammates and opponents, and playing with integrity matter most. Wins and losses fade, but strong character rooted in faith defines a person and lasts a lifetime.

Her goal for every player is to grow not only as an athlete, but as a confident, respectful young Christian who carries these values beyond the game.
